HOUSEHOLD WASTE MANAGEMENT, MEANS OF EXPLOITATION.

Household waste management in the city has been a problem to city authorities for many years. Due in influx of people to the urban centres there is no way one could reduce waste generation.

We are grateful to ZOOMLION for their immense role in managing waste in the city. However, I keep on wondering about the way communities or localities manage their solid waste with the container or tanks provided by the city authorities.

Some years ago the pay as you dump system was introduced in the city. This was quickly withdrawn due to concerns raised by various institutions as well as individuals. Surprisingly, the PAY AS YOU DUMP is unofficially being used at various container points. The charges are based on the personality carrying the waste.

Is this not another form of exploitation by gentlemen who are found well dressed and relaxing a distance from the garbage tanks. Yes we know they pay for the trucks that come to carry away the garbage to the landfill site, but what are the officials doing about the charges? Couldn’t there be a measure or a system where a flat rate could be charged as applied to the Metro-Mass Transport fares? Please let us help arrest this situation before the poor are over exploited.
